Unitronic Dogbone Engine Mount - Race

At Unitronic, few things excite them more than getting their hands on the latest crop of VAG performance vehicles and the 8Y RS 3 was no exception. Sporting an all-new torque vectoring rear diff, fine tuned suspension, aggressive new styling and improved driving ergonomics, the 8Y RS 3 is one of best balanced cars they've had the chance to experience lately and they look forward to building upon this great foundation with many upcoming Unitronic Performance Upgrades.

Throughout the research and development phase of this Unitronic Dogbone Mount, it was quickly apparent that new CNC machined end caps would need to be designed for the 8Y RS 3 in order to provide the best performance without any chassis interference. It was also important for them to retain the modular system which was very popular for the 8V.2 / 8S platforms, allowing you to choose between two different inserts in order to suit varying driving styles.

Unitronic’s Dogbone Arm and Endcaps are 5-axis CNC machined from T7075 billet Aluminum; and feature a black anodized finish. Unique to Unitronic’s design, are CNC machined Nylon inserts, which isolate them from the subframe to mitigate possible damage from extenuating heat radiated from the exhaust system. In addition, they facilitate an easier straight forward installation that allows the installer to install the mount on the vehicle without having to disassemble the subframe.

The yellow “street” poly bushings are ideal for street use, spirited driving, and the occasional track day. For race oriented builds, high power, and track-only type vehicles, these red “race” poly bushings are most ideal. 

Finally, and most importantly, Unitronic opted to use polyurethane for its bushings due to its excellent damping and rebound properties. Polyurethane is known to withstand cyclic loading under varying operating conditions that contribute to its durability.
