Thermostat/Water Pump Kit (Updated)

A known early point of failure for VW, Audi, and Porsche models with the EA888 Gen3 engine, water pump/thermostats are a complex piece of technology including an electrical motor, worm gearbox, two rotary slide valves - and it's also a water pump. Not so simple, is it? We've removed the electrical complexity (and a big point of failure) and with careful engineering, have resulted in a pump that meets OE spec for both cooling performance and temperature curve. We've added lightness, added simplicity, and would encourage you to upgrade your engine with this pump.

As preventative maintenance, consider replacing your water pump at 60,000 miles. With inconsistent service life from the factory, some will fail sooner than 60,000, and some will see 100,000 miles or more. Either way, keep your eye peeled for signs of failure, which include a check engine light accompanied by coolant pump malfunction codes, coolant leaks from the pump (a small leak will likely lead to a larger problem), physical issues with the pump itself (audible squeaking or pump shaft play) and/or overheating.
